then his master told him through the analogy of dreams that buddha nature has never left us, and is no different from us, but you have not seen it yourself. what does it mean? when dreaming, do you know that your real body is lying on the bed? he would definitely say i don't know; then is your real body lying in the bed? he would definitely say that he was lying on the bed.


your real body is lying on the bed, but you don’t know, you don’t know does not mean that your body is not on the bed; your real body is lying on the bed, which does not mean that you can see it when you dream.


similarly, the body lying on the bed when dreaming is like buddha nature; our various emotions, life and the world, are like scenes in dreams. then the person in the dream has never left his body lying on the bed. but when you dream, you don’t know that there is a real body in the bed.


similarly, you now have a buddha nature, just like the body lying on the bed when you were dreaming. but in real life, you cannot see where the buddha nature is, just like in your dream, you cannot see your body lying on the bed. although it is invisible, the body lying on the bed is actually the same as the body you are playing basketball in your dreams.


similarly, your current greed, anger, ignorance, and various emotions are the same as your buddha nature, but you cannot see it in real life. the disciple asked, since the heart exists now, why can’t we see it? the master said that it is like in a dream, the real body is there at that time, but if you don’t discover it, it does not mean that this body does not exist. what is the reason for not seeing it? it's because of my own hallucination.



we also have such buddha nature now. why can’t we see it? it is ignorance. the previous part is explained very clearly, but when summarizing it later, it is a little vague, which is actually what it means.


“since there is no difference, then your body is not two and the body in the dream, it is one. "that is, this body is your original dharma body", this body is your dharma body. which body should "this body" refer to? is the real body lying on the bed a dharma body? of course not, this is the flesh body. here it is said that this is the dharma body, and it should be understood in this way: it is like the dharma body.


you have a dharma body in your heart, but you can't see it. similarly, you can't feel this body lying on the bed when you dream. therefore, "this body is your original dharma body", i think it should be understood in this way. otherwise, this place will be a little bit unclear. which body is "this body"? of course, the body cannot be a dharma body, and the body in the dream is not a dharma body. neither of these are the dharma body. so which one does "this body" refer to? so there is a little problem.


if this body is like a dharma body. i think this way of understanding will be smooth, which is related to the metaphor in the previous dream. it is not only without contradiction, but also very clearly stated. “that is, this dharma body is your original mind”,as i said just now, the dharma body is like the physical body lying on the bed. then the dharma body that truly exists without beginning or end is nothing else, it is your original heart. so don't do it? no other, this is your own heart, your heart.


therefore, don’t think that the dharma body and your original mind are two unrelated things, and the dharma body is your original mind. what is the final summary? that is to say, from the beginning of time to the present, there has been such a dharma body that exists in your heart. it is nothing else, it is your heart. although the nature of the mind exists, you cannot see it because of ignorance. just like when you are dreaming, there is still a body lying on the bed and you don’t know.



the nature of the mind is the dharma body. although it is the same as you, you may not be able to see it. why? it’s like when you’re dreaming, the body on the bed is the body in your dream, no different from you; but when you’re dreaming, you don’t feel that there is still a body lying on the bed. therefore, the existence of buddha nature does not mean that you can discover it; the failure to discover its existence does not mean that it does not actually exist. this makes it very clear.


this heart has been since the beginning of time and is no different from now on”,this mind is buddha nature, the nature and light of the mind. the nature and light of the mind are not only available after we have learned buddhism, but have been around since time immemorial. "the great disaster in the beginning and the end of time" means, we don't need to talk about it anymore. it has been said, and everyone knows it. "nothing is different now", and so far, it is no different from you.


there has never been life or death”,the nature of our heart has never been born or died. “no birth and no death”,it is neither born nor destroyed. “no increase or decrease, no dirt or clean”,during the six realms of reincarnation, it is obvious that there are dirt and troubles; then when you become a buddha, your original mind will be pure. it seems like this on the surface, but in fact it is not dirty or clean in nature, it will always be like this. the buddhist scriptures also talk about it. for example, when we look at the blue sky from the ground, we can't see the clouds when there are clouds, and when the clouds are blown away by the wind, we see the blue sky again. but when we see the clouds, the blue sky actually has no change, but the clouds are changing.


in fact, increase or decrease, life and death are only available at the level of secular reincarnation, and there is no such thing in the essence of the mind. “neither good nor hate”,people’s hearts are inherently good, and we often say that. but they are not good or evil in their original appearance, and there is no concept of good or evil.
