great treasure dharma king: offering is to help us cultivate our minds!

karmapa's teachings

generally speaking, the so-called offerings seem to be arranging many offerings. there is nothing wrong with this, but truly extraordinary offerings refer to the wonderful happiness of all buddhas and bodhisattvas through the offerings of various substances, that is, the act of offerings.
therefore, some wise men say that as long as it is offering, it must be a real offering, because it has the power to allow buddhas and bodhisattvas to have unobstructed joy.
any method we practice must be able to cure our afflictions; the method that cannot cure our afflictions is not the right dharma. therefore, even if it is offering, it must be able to cure our troubles.
and what kind of trouble does offering treat us? it is to cure our greed and stingy troubles. what is stingy? it means that we have a lot of things, but we are narrow-minded and unwilling to share.
or you own it yourself, but you just make some small offerings, which is also an impure offering; or we leave the good part and use it ourselves, and then use the remaining and excess to make offerings, etc. this is also an impure offering.
master xia lewa said: it is not possible to use moldy food to offer, or to offer dead leaves as offerings. therefore, we must offer the good and wonderful parts.
offering is to help us cultivate our minds. for buddhas and bodhisattvas, there is no difference between them. in any case, for buddhas and bodhisattvas, there is no difference in any offering. so what is their purpose?
the purpose of buddhas and others is to help all sentient beings stay away from suffering and to stay away from suffering requires various conditions and causes and conditions. what are these conditions? it is to accumulate merits and purify sins.
you cannot cultivate your wealth and purify your obstacles by others, and each of us must do it yourself. buddhas and bodhisattvas are the best examples of accumulating wealth and purifying obstacles. if we can practice it ourselves and accumulate wealth and purifying obstacles, we will naturally get closer and closer to becoming a buddha.
